167 Florida Hospitals recognized for heart disease and stroke care – 14 on the First Coast
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Aug. 28, 2025 — Fourteen hospitals on the First Coast, along with 167 across Florida, are among 4,800 nationwide participating in the Get With The Guidelines® initiative from the American Heart Association, a global force changing the future of health for all.
Each year, the Association recognizes hospitals across the country for consistently following up-to-date, research-based guidelines to improve outcomes for Americans who experience heart disease and stroke.
These awards are issued for stroke, heart failure, resuscitation, AFib and coronary artery disease. Hospitals can also receive simultaneous recognition through the Target: Stroke℠, Target: Heart Failure℠, Target: Type 2 Diabetes℠, Target: CPR and Target: Survival programs.
This year, the Association introduced the Commitment to Quality award, which highlights high performance across three or more clinical areas in the program. Among four hospitals in Florida to receive this honor were HCA Florida Memorial Hospital and HCA Florida Orange Park Hospital.
“It is vital that we strive to advance cardiovascular health and improve patient outcomes,” said Caitlin Brunell, executive director for the American Heart Association, First Coast. “We’re incredibly grateful to the hospitals recognized through the Get With The Guidelines® program who are making real strides in delivering high-quality care to those in our community who are affected by heart disease and stroke.”
Heart disease and stroke are the No. 1 and No. 5 causes of death in the United States, respectively. These health crises require swift and proven treatment to ensure the best outcomes for patients. Participation in Get With The Guidelines® is associated with improved patient outcomes, fewer readmissions and lower mortality rates.
