American Heart Association to Host 5th Annual Worksite Wellness Summit
TUSCALOOSA, Ala., Sept. 28, 2022 – The American Heart Association, the world’s leading nonprofit organization focused on heart and brain health for all, invites the community to its 5th annual Worksite Wellness Summit, locally sponsored by DCH Health System, Wednesday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. (CDT) at the Bryant Conference Center. The free event is geared toward professionals in human resources, employee safety, and health and wellness.
Attendees will hear from health and wellness experts from local organizations including DCH North Harbor Pavilion and the University of Alabama who will address topics such as mental health and how to recognize and support employees in the workforce; tips and strategies on starting a culture of wellness within a company or organization; returning to work in a post-pandemic world.
The afternoon session will highlight tools to assist executives and company leaders to make the biggest impact on their employees’ health. Dr. Louanne Friend from the University of Alabama College of Community Health Science will share research findings about how screenings, diagnosis and treatment of hypertension can improve the overall health of employees.
The event will include breakout sessions on Diversity and Inclusion, burnout, smoking and vaping cessation policies, CPR and more. The American Heart Association’s Workplace Health Solutions program offers a suite of evidence-based tools to help optimize current employee health programs. These tools leverage the science behind the Index while improving consumer engagement and promoting healthier behaviors.
