Local families and companies rally around heart health ahead of Heart Walk
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., Sept. 3, 2025 – Whether they walk for personal reasons or walk because of a desire to give back, more than 7,000 attendees are expected to participate in the 2025 Palm Beach County Heart Walk on Nov. 8 at the Meyer Amphitheater.
Many local executives, such as HCA Florida JFK Hospital CEO and 2025 Palm Beach County Heart Walk chairperson Ken West, have encouraged their employees to get involved in the Heart Walk to improve their health, and to rally around a charitable mission with their colleagues.
“Workplace stress can increase your chance of a heart attack or stroke by 40%,” said West. “Building a company culture that helps employees live healthier is a business imperative. I am glad to see so many companies embracing that by getting their teams involved with Heart Walk, and by using wellness resources from the American Heart Association that can help us all live longer, healthier lives.”
More than 76 local companies participated in the Heart Walk in 2024. Many participants walk for personal reasons, including 16-year-old Ryan Chait.
“I was born with a congenital heart defect,” said Chait. “My family and I have come to almost every Palm Beach County Heart Walk since I was born. It’s a fun way to celebrate my heart health, and it makes me feel like I’m giving back to other people, too.”
The Heart Walk brings families, friends and coworkers together for heart-healthy activities, including Hands-Only CPR demonstrations, yard games, a “Zen Den,” and a 3.1-mile walk along the Intracoastal.
