San Angelo executive leads charge for women’s heart health in 2026

SAN ANGELO, Texas, Oct. 1, 2025 — Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death for women in San Angelo and across the United States. To change that, the American Heart Association — a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives — is encouraging women to prioritize their heart health. Leading that effort locally is Lamar Advertising Co. Area Sales Manager Courtney Carson, who will serve as the 2026 chairperson for the San Angelo Go Red for Women® movement.

Carson, and a longtime advocate for women’s health, brings personal experience and passion to the role. Her journey with heart health began after attending a Go Red for Women luncheon with her mother-in-law, Stacy Carson, a Circle of Red member. Just months later, Carson experienced her own heart event — a moment she initially dismissed as anxiety.

“My ‘why’ is my family, and my mission is to inform every person that you have to listen and act when your body does not feel right,” Carson said. “Go Red for Women is a call to action: Red Means Go — for our hearts, our futures and every woman who matters to us.”

Despite the threat of cardiovascular disease, less than half of women are aware of their risk. Go Red for Women is committed to closing gaps in access to care and championing a community of support. Carson’s leadership will focus on empowering women to take charge of their health and encouraging companies and individuals to invest in life-saving research and education.

“Courtney’s unwavering dedication to the Go Red for Women movement is creating a ripple of change in San Angelo,” said Ashley Quintana, development director for San Angelo and Permian Basin Go Red for Women. “Her voice and her story are powerful tools in our mission to save lives.”

The community will celebrate Carson’s leadership and the campaign’s impact at the 2026 San Angelo Go Red for Women event, set for Feb. 16. at McNease Convention Center in SanAngelo. The event will feature inspiring stories, health education and a call to action for women across the region.

Go Red for Women is nationally sponsored by CVS Health. The San Angelo Go Red for Women event is locally sponsored by City National Bank. For more information, contact Quintana at Ashley.Quintana@heart.org or visit www.heart.org/SanAngeloGoRed
