Twelve Students Awarded the 2025 Lorraine Dodero STEM Goes Red Scholarship by the American Heart Association

Cleveland, OH, September 25, 2025 – The American Heart Association is proud to announce the 12 recipients of the 2025 Lorraine Dodero STEM Goes Red Scholarship, each awarded $5,000 to support their academic journey in STEM fields.

The American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women movement and Lorraine Dodero of The Sam J. Frankino Foundation developed the STEM Goes Red Scholarship in 2019 to help bridge the gap between students’ aspirations in STEM and the resources needed to achieve them. Since its inception, we’ve awarded 45 scholarships to local students.

The Class of 2025 scholarship recipients include:

  • Aliya Ali – Avon High School
  • Vedaa Chauhan – Saint Joseph Academy
  • Elizabeth Chester – Highland High School
  • Andrea Eberhardt – Firelands High School
  • Kaitlyn Hohmann – Magnificat High School
  • Rylee Jedrzejek – Keystone High School
  • Abigail Karim – Brunswick High School
  • Morgan Palos – Elyria High School
  • Brooklyn Phillips – Gilmour Academy
  • Vanessa Roth – Magnificat High School
  • Kayovya Vel – Westlake High School
  • Mirica Woodley – Beachwood High School

”These exceptional students have demonstrated leadership, innovation, and a strong commitment leveraging STEM to create meaningful change in their communities,” said Shelley Webber, the Executive Director of the American Heart Association in Cleveland. “We are proud to support their academic journeys and help fuel their passion for STEM.”

“These young scholars exhibit extraordinary passion and potential,” added Lorraine Dodero of The Sam J. Frankino Foundation. “ Their determination is inspiring, and we look forward to the difference they will make—advancing medical discoveries, engineering solutions, and opening doors to a brighter future.”

Congratulations to this year’s well-deserving recipients!
