FAIRFIELD, March 26, 2025 — The American Heart Association, a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives, has named Michael LoPiano, a partner at EY, as chairperson of the 2025 Fairfield Heart Walk. Taking place on Saturday, May 10 at Sherwood Island State Park, Westport, CT, the event will unite community members, businesses and survivors in a shared mission to raise awareness and critical funds to fight heart disease and stroke.
With a deep personal connection to the cause, LoPiano is passionate about leading this year’s Heart Walk, driven by his family’s long history of heart disease and related conditions.
“Heart disease is the No. 1 killer, yet too many families, including my own, have had to face its devastating effects,” LoPiano said. “I’ve seen the toll it takes, not just on those diagnosed but on the people who love them. I refuse to stand by while this disease continues to claim lives. That’s why I’m honored to lead the Fairfield Heart Walk— to rally our community, to fund research that saves lives and to help families enjoy longer, healthier futures together.”
The Heart Walk is the Association’s premier event for funding lifesaving research, advocating for better health policies and supporting survivors. Heart disease and stroke remain the nation’s No. 1 and No. 5 killers[1], and events like the Heart Walk help drive progress in prevention, treatment and education.
“The Fairfield Heart Walk is an opportunity for people to take a step toward better health—not just for themselves, but for their loved ones and their community,” said Kristen Alouisa, executive director of the American Heart Association for Westchester and Fairfield Counties. “By joining us, participants are supporting groundbreaking research, lifesaving CPR education and programs that help people live longer, healthier lives.”
The Association’s Nation of Lifesavers initiative aims to turn bystanders into lifesavers by equipping more people with the skills and confidence to perform CPR in an emergency. By walking, fundraising and spreading awareness, participants in the Heart Walk support this mission and help save lives in their own communities.
