CHARLESTON, W.V., May 12, 2025 – The American Heart Association will bring a touch of Hollywood to Embassy Suites this Saturday with the 2025 Charleston Heart Ball, themed “Lights! Camera! Take Action!” The event aims to raise funds to fight heart disease and stroke, the leading causes of death in the U.S.

Co-chaired by Gina Joynes of the West Virginia State Treasury and Christy Robinson, M.D. of Capital City Pediatrics, the Heart Ball will celebrate the Association’s mission to advance health and hope for everyone, everywhere while featuring live and silent auctions, a 360-degree photo booth, a formal dinner and a live DJ.

“We are excited to see the Capital City come together to support heart health and our life-saving mission,” said Amanda Sosebee, development director for the American Heart Association. “This year’s theme brings the spectacle of Hollywood, and we look forward to seeing how guests bring it to life.”

The Association will present its inaugural Cardiovascular Lifetime Legacy Award to Dr. Stefan Maxwell. The evening will also introduce a new event format highlighting the “Four Chambers” of the Association’s work through local stories of survival and volunteerism.

Leading sponsors include CAMC Vandalia Health, WVU Medicine Thomas Hospitals, The Health Plan, Drs. W. Alex and Danielle Magro Wade, Encova Foundation, and Capital City Pediatrics. Media supporters include WCHS/WVAH TV, Rock 105 and 100.9 The Mix (LM Communications). The event will be emceed by WCHS TV’s Hannah Cline and Gina Marini, alongside Jim Strawn.

“We can’t thank our sponsors and community partners enough,” Sosebee added. “Their support helps us bring this impactful event to life.”
