Greensboro, N.C. – Sept. 4, 2025 - The American Heart Association, with support from our Live Fierce. Life is Why. sponsor, Novant Health, is providing community funding to improve heart health in Cape Fear, Charlotte and Triad areas. Applications are being accepted from those communities through September 19, 2025.
Community applicants are encouraged to apply for American Heart Association subawards ranging from $2,500 - $10,000 to support heart-healthy policies and environments. Applicants may include community-based organizations, churches, senior centers, community health centers, housing authorities, colleges and universities and city and county governments.
Organizations or community groups that submitted and/or were awarded community health subawards in the past are welcome to submit applications focused on new projects rather than those previously funded. “These subawards offer the American Heart Association an opportunity to continue the important work of creating longer healthier lives in our communities through strong relationships with local organizations across North Carolina,” said Allison Nelson, vice president of community impact, American Heart Association, Charlotte.
Heart disease and stroke are leading causes of death in North Carolina, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Center for Health Statistics. Many of those outcomes are preventable, and through clinical and community alliances, the American Heart Association is championing initiatives that improve equitable health through evidence-based strategies, resulting in improved health outcomes.
Interested community applicants should complete their application by September 19, 2025.
