ORLANDO, Fla., April 23, 2025 – The American Heart Association, Orlando was recently awarded a $250,000 grant to address barriers to CPR/AED implementation and to improve survival rates from sudden cardiac arrest.
“The American Heart Association is dedicated to overcoming obstacles in cardiac emergency response and addressing disparities related to gender, socioeconomic status, race, and ethnicity in bystander CPR,” said Jimmy Clarity, vice president of community impact, America Heart Association, Orlando. “These funds are crucial for enhancing accessibility to life-saving resources and promoting overall well-being for the South Lake County communities. This is just a small step toward creating healthier lives for everyone, everywhere.”
With the support of the Live Well Foundation, this grant will enable the American Heart Association to develop essential infrastructure while bringing comprehensive CPR/AED training and cardiac emergency response plans to life. The American Heart Association and the Live Well Foundation aim to address the growing healthcare needs of the community, and create a lasting impact on the well-being of the residents.
CPR/AED training, and cardiac emergency response plans will be implemented in venues such as local schools, sports programs, libraries, and other community spaces in South Lake County.
“We are thrilled to see these projects come to life in South Lake County,” said Susan McLean, Live Well Foundation of South Lake Grant committee chairperson. “Each initiative represents a commitment to sustainable, preventative healthcare. The impact on our residents will be profound and enduring, and I am grateful to contribute in even a small way to this incredible transformation in our community.”
The grant contributions began in January and are slated for continued disbursements over the next few years. This grant distribution ensures that the American Heart Association can leverage the Foundation's support to bring comprehensive CPR/AED training and cardiac emergency response plans to life.
This initiative is a testament to the power of collaboration and the shared vision of making the greater Orlando community a better place one initiative at a time.
