SEATTLE, Sat. Oct. 11, 2025 — Thousands of people across Washington have gathered to support the American Heart Association and participate in a Washington Heart and Stroke Walk event, including 2,500 who walked today during the final 2025 event held in Seattle.

Company and community teams filled the Fisher Green at Seattle Center and enjoyed health and wellness expo, a short stage program and then raised their heart rates on either a 3-mile or a 1-mile walking route through downtown Seattle. Survivors of heart disease and stroke were honored with caps and capes, red for heart disease survivors, white for stroke survivors and superhero capes for young survivors of heart disease and stroke. At the finish line, survivors were invited to ring a heart shaped bell to commemorate their journey.

“Today was truly a fun and festive celebration of lives touched by heart disease and stroke,” said Todd J. Czartoski, M.D., executive vice president and chief physician officer, MultiCare Health System and volunteer chairperson of the Washington Heart and Stroke Walk. “Cardiovascular disease is the leading killer of Washingtonians and many of us have a personal reason for participating. The Heart and Stroke Walk is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a common purpose. We’re grateful to everyone who walked, donated and supported the American Heart Association.”

This year, the Washington Heart and Stroke Walk has raised $1.29 million. The 2025 top companies based on fundraising, include:

  • MultiCare Health System
  • Delta Dental of Washington
  • Virginia Mason Franciscan Health
  • UW Medicine

Donations further the American Heart Association’s lifesaving mission including enhancing CPR training accessibility, bolstering bystander preparedness and increasing funding for vital research. Through the event, walkers also had the opportunity to access CPR education via a CPR Digital Experience where they could learn Hands-Only CPR in 90 seconds.

The 2025 Washington Heart and Stroke Walk was sponsored by MultiCare Health System, Delta Dental of Washington and Providence Health Plan. To make a donation to the American Heart Association, visit WashingtonHeartWalk.org.
