OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 11, 2025 — More than 7,000 people gathered at the three Bay Area Heart Walks held in Walnut Creek, Santa Rosa and San Francisco throughout September, raising $3 million to further the lifesaving mission of the American Heart Association, a relentless force changing the future of health for everyone everywhere.
In addition to raising critical funds, the Bay Area Heart Walks brought together heart disease and stroke survivors, participants from 126 local companies and other community members to learn Hands-Only CPR and build a community of lifesavers. Approximately 9 in 10 people who experience out-of-hospital cardiac arrest do not survive — but immediate CPR can double or even triple a person’s chances of survival.
“The Heart Walk shows what the Bay Area can do together,” said Liza Mudd, executive director of the American Heart Association Bay Area division. “By supporting this year-round movement, we’re not just raising funds — we’re equipping more people with lifesaving skills and helping make the Bay Area a stronger, healthier place. Our vision is for every home to be ready to respond to a cardiac emergency, and we’re grateful to everyone who helped us take a big step toward that goal.”
This year’s top fundraising companies included the American Heart Association, Kaiser Permanente, Charles Schwab and the San Francisco Giants. The majority of participating organizations also held Hands-Only CPR demonstrations at their company kickoffs ahead of Heart Walk, emphasizing our efforts to build a Nation of Lifesavers.
The top local sponsors were Amgen, Chevron, Cisco, Cytokinetics, Charles Schwab, Delta Dental, Docusign, Kaiser Permanente, Palo Alto Networks, Medtronic, Recor Medical and Visa Foundation.
